They wrote about me… (2015 – 2017)
Giuseppe Piluso – Book Title: “Life!”
I received a request to review this young poet, Giuseppe Piluso, from the publisher Santelli, to whom I have a strong and consolidated relationship of esteem and mutual trust.
To tell the truth I did not know the poet Giuseppe Piluso, but perhaps it is even better so because, in this way, I read his poems and try to understand his world and his being a poet, free from any conditioning.
The volume is divided into three distinct parts: before 2014, 2014, after 2014. Why is this division so clear and detailed? What is the meaning of these three outdated references, especially on the inner level? In the introduction Piluso himself says so: “…I am intellectually reborn” and “…I am satisfied, since I have been determined in my choices”.
Before 2014: just to begin with, the titles of the most significant poems already indicate a path: Light, Artificial Star, Star? Some doubts…, Don’t be afraid, Look at the moon certainly have the meaning of the dream, common to all young people who approach poetry. The dream as a yearning to live in a parallel world where anxieties, pains, fears give way to certainties, beauty, happiness. This is the time period in which the Poet, but I would say more simply every human being, goes to build his own future and his own earthly existence.
I saw her…
The green wheel
That together with others
The extinct
Supports and carries
And my heart clenched
For it saw that
The end was near…
ut not too much…
The ending is significant “The end was near”… “but not too much” because the Poet, although folded in his suffering, wants to begin to fight to be a vital and spiritual force always aimed at fighting against all adversities is placed in front of him in his existence of Life.
The watershed is 2014, the year in which the individual personality comes out, the real man is born, the Giuseppe Piluso, true creator of his own destiny, with his intellectual strength and with fully refined and accomplished ideas: Intimate Transphomatio, In Love, Life of the Sun, Before furor, Impetus, Woman is …, Woman! Gentle 14 February, as you can see, not only the titles of the poems have changed, but more precisely their lexical meaning, and from youthful dreams they have become real moments full of strength and vigor. In fact, a man is born, full of new motivations and pregnant with individual intellectual meanings.
Giuseppe Piluso’s path seems to me to be linear: from the typical insecurity of adolescents to the first certainties, up to facing a life path full of activities and interests, as it should be:
Freedom, shout
The entrails by the breath of
life that goes inside, and
Accompanies screams and noise
of tiny little kid:
Freedom cried out the heart, swollen with
sweetness and peace between the chains:
Freedom cried out the soul to the highest good
when he welcomed it into his arms.
Certainly the Poet knows how to understand and seize the moment to react to the discouragement and to stand up, like an invincible titan, to the uncertainties and disappointments of Life, to appropriate his own life as he wants, no longer as a dream to be idealized, but to achieve fully as an autonomous and thinking living being.
After 2014, the already poet Giuseppe Piluso grew up and began to walk and live independently, together with the society that surrounds him, his dense Life as a Man capable of appropriating the content and intellectual abilities of his being I.
I have a little dream…
of a free man, never
chained to mud;
free! To colour the future
with the colors he wants and not
forced to use minimal shades.
Between grey and dark.
Free soul, with feet on the ground
remember your dream?
The level of Giuseppe Piluso’s poems seems to me already abundantly interesting in his first editorial experience. The content skillfully photographs the incessant passage of time, adapting it to individual needs, and widening its visual spectrum with a wealth of detail. The compositional style is sober, but already quite interwoven with lyricism and allows us to glimpse new potential compositions that are technically and stylistically perfect.
